Troubleshooting Payments

Labflow uses Stripe to process credit card payments. In order to prevent fraudulent payments, Stripe communicates with the credit card company to make sure the information you enter is correct. When you see an error message displayed, your credit card will not get charged, as the payment is unable to be processed. You will need to either re-enter your credit card information and try again, or possibly contact your credit card company if you continue to get an error.

Here are the most common errors users encounter:

  • Address verification
Stripe passes the zip code you enter in the form to the credit card company for verification. The credit card company checks to make sure it matches the zip code in the address on file for the card you are using. This is the most common reason for payments failing. Make sure you use the zip code where the credit card bill is going.
  • CVC verification
Stripe passes the security code you enter in the form to the credit card company for verification. These security codes are often 3-digit numbers printed on the back of the credit cards, or in the case of AMEX cards, is a 4-digit number printed on the front of the card.
  • Bank refusal
In some cases, when Stripe tries to process the payment, the credit card company declines the transaction for some reason. This could be because the card has been reported stolen, the card has insufficient funds or has exceeded its spending limit, or some other reason. We try to pass along as informative of an error message as we can in these cases. You'll need to contact your credit card company to sort out these issues.
  • Error in processing card
Sometimes there is an error in communicating between Stripe and your credit card company. In these cases, you will see an error message and will be encouraged to try again.
