Grading Status

Overview

The Grading Status column is used to show the grading progress for the report. When a student is actively working on the report, the grading status will be In Progress. Once the student submits the report, the status will be Needs Grading if there are any hand-graded items or will go right to Grading Complete if there are no hand-graded items. If students still have attempts remaining, and it is before the Cut-off Date of the report, you will be blocked from grading the student. If the student is still able to work on the report, we prevent grading. When all the hand-graded items have scores, the status will switch over to Grading Complete. After the grades are posted to the grade book, the status will be Grade Posted.

Possible Statuses

  • Not Started - the student has not opened the report, there is nothing to grade
  • In Progress - the student has opened the report, but there is nothing to grade
  • Needs Grading - the report is submitted, and there is something that needs to be graded
  • Grading Complete - all items have scores and the score is ready to be posted
  • Grade Posted - the score has been posted to the grade book

On the top of the Submissions tab, the numbers of students in each of the grading statuses are shown. You can click on the status to show those students in the table. You can click on multiple statuses to include more than one. When you click on a status, it will be highlighted. If you want to deselect a status, click on it again.

Student Status

Overview

The Student Status column is used to show how the student completed their report. This column also has Not Started and In Progress to show that the student has not opened the report or has started working on it. When a student submits the report prior to their Close Date, the status will be Submitted. If a student submits the report after their Close Date and before their Cut-off Date, the status will be Submitted Late. Labflow does not deduct any points for late submission, but if you wanted to manually deduct points for late submission, you will be able to identify students submitting late with this status. If a student has the report open and is working on it while the Cut-off Date passes, their report will be autosubmitted, the status in this column will likewise show Autosubmitted. If the student did not submit the report and does not have the report open when the Cut-off Date passes, their report will not be autosubmitted, you will need to submit the report for them, either individually or using the Bulk Submit option. The student status will show Instructor Submitted when you submit the report for them.

Possible Statuses

  • Not Started - the student has not opened the report
  • In Progress - the student has opened the report
  • Submitted - the student has submitted the report prior to the Close Date
  • Submitted Late - the student has submitted the report after the Close Date and before the Cut-off Date
  • Autosubmitted - the student was working the report as the Cut-off Date passed and the report was autosubmitted
  • Instructor Submitted - the student did not submit the report, and the instructor needed to submit the report for them
